The Good Grief Journal is a private journaling tool. It is not a substitute for professional grief counseling, therapy, or psychiatric care. If you are in crisis or experiencing thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out for immediate help:

1. Acceptance of Terms
By creating an account or using The Good Grief Journal, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Description of Service
The Good Grief Journal is a private digital journaling platform designed to help individuals process grief through guided prompts, personal writing, and optional AI-generated reflections. The service is intended to support your personal reflection — it does not provide medical, psychological, therapeutic, or crisis intervention services.
3. Not a Mental Health Service
The Good Grief Journal is a journaling tool, not a licensed mental health provider. Nothing in the app — including AI-generated responses — constitutes professional advice, therapy, or a therapeutic relationship. We are not trained counselors or crisis responders.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency, please contact a qualified professional or emergency services immediately. Do not rely on this app in a crisis.
4. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use The Good Grief Journal. Users under 18 should have parental or guardian consent. By creating an account, you represent that you meet these requirements.
5. Your Account
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password with anyone. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
6. Your Content
You retain full ownership of all journal entries, photos, and other content you create in the app. By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the service to you. We do not claim any ownership over your personal writing or memories.
7. Subscriptions and Payments
Some features require a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed on a recurring basis until cancelled. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. We do not offer refunds for partial billing periods except where required by applicable law. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your payment card details.
8. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data
- Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the service
- Upload or submit content that violates third-party rights
- Use automated tools to scrape or extract content from the service
9. Intellectual Property
The Good Grief Journal — including its design, prompts, and features — is our intellectual property. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of our intellectual property to you.
10. Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will meet your specific needs. Grief is deeply personal; no app can fully support everyone's experience.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, The Good Grief Journal and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — the service. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
We are not liable for any harm that results from reliance on the service as a substitute for professional mental health care.
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at support@thegoodgriefjournal.com. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
